I am a native New Englander, raised in coastal Westport, MA.  I went to Providence College in Providence, RI and graduated with a B.S. in Biology and a Theology minor in 1995.  In 1996, I migrated to the South to attend Life University College of Chiropractic in Marietta, Georgia.  I graduated summa cum laude with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 2000.  With a desire to spend more time in the Atlanta area, I started a practice in Clarkston, GA, an Atlanta suburb. If you have read Outcasts United by Warren St. John, you already know that Clarkston is largely a community of refugees from all over the globe.  Eleven years of practice in Clarkston was truly a growth experience, teaching me to open my mind and heart to new perspectives and belief systems.

My time in Georgia was also a wonderful time of self-exploration and spiritual growth.  While working on patients, I began noticing tingling and electrical sensations in my hands and became curious about what I was perceiving.  I became interested in more subtle forms of bodywork so I delved into Bioenergetic Synchronization Technique (Morter Health System), Quantum Touch, and Reiki.  I learned that the human body is made up of energy and is surrounded by an electromagnetic field.  Balanced energy equates to a healthy body!

During my last few years in Georgia I felt a strong desire to be closer to nature, to live in a quieter and more peaceful place.  My partner and I visited Burlington and the Lake Champlain Islands in August of 2010, and it was love at first sight! We truly felt at home.  We returned to Burlington in February (two days after a blizzard) to make sure our love was not just a whimsical crush.  We STILL loved it... snow drifts and all! Burlington became our new home in September of 2011.

Since settling into Vermont, I have continued my study of alternative forms of bodywork and have loved learning and incorporating myofascial release (John Barnes), craniosacral therapy (Upledger), and zero balancing into my practice.  I am particularly aligned with zero balancing and completed certification in 2022.

Over the years I have experienced first-hand the significant role that our emotions play in our overall health.  Patients sometimes have emotional releases during treatment sessions, and I often feel patients’ emotions in areas of their bodies.  In 2021 I had the privilege of meeting Dr. Neala Peake, a gifted therapist and intuitive energy healer.  Learning from Neala and facilitating healing workshops with her has taught me so much about how emotions can become “stuck” in our bodies, thereby disrupting the healthy flow of our energy systems.

My work with Neala piqued my interest in the field of somatic coaching, so I set out to learn more about it in 2023.  I studied with the Integrative Wellness Academy and became certified as an Integrative Somatic Practitioner (ISP).  I’ve also done some studying with the Strozzi Institute.  Somatic coaching, through the implementation of various tools and techniques, helps patients/clients to become more in touch with and aware of their bodies.  Improved awareness of our bodies and the various tensions, held emotions, and muscular/fascial armoring helps us to shift and release these tensions and patterns.  I’m currently offering a somatic awareness workshop series, and I’m excited about more fully integrating coaching into my bodywork practice.

I look forward to meeting you and working with you soon!
